5 Tips for A Successful Mini Session

Mini Sessions are awesome for several reasons! They are a quick and easy way to update your family photos each year and capture the kids as they grow.

Minis are only 15 minutes so even your littlest ones with the very shortest attention spans can handle the time frame. And, they are so much fun!

Continue reading below for some helpful tips to get the most out of your session.

ONE. Plan Your Outfits in Advance

Plan your outfits in advance so you are not stressing the day of your session. Coordinate colors and patterns within the outfits. It’s helpful to start with one key piece and go from there. You can add layers like a textured sweater or denim jacket to create depth and interest.

TWO. Sleep

Get a good night’s sleep the night before. Try to get the kids to bed a little early or at least try to have a calm evening to help promote good sleep so you are all well rested.

THREE. Eat

Eat! Full bellies help make happy kids (and adults!) Be sure to eat before your scheduled session and bring some snacks/water (goldfish or pretzels are good since they don’t make a mess).

FOUR. Arrive Early

Plan to arrive a little early so you can take a few minutes to breathe and relax before we begin. Mini sessions are run on a tight schedule so it’s important to be timely.

FIVE. HAVE FUN!
Last but most important…HAVE FUN! Our photo session together is a partnership. The more you laugh and play and have fun with your family, the more authentically I am able to capture you together. Leave the directing to me for our 15 minutes together, I’ve got a lot of tricks up my sleeve to get your kids to smile and laugh!
